Craft / School Spirit Flag

School-Spirit-Flag-IntroNow that our school year is well under way, Lulu and I are steadily getting into a routine! Last night, I went to my first football game for the year with my friends at our school, so I think this craft is perfectly timed. Seeing these pennants instantly remind me of school spirit, and being so easy to make, you could have them in plenty of different colors! While we used them for the typical fashion {Ruthie and Isabella are showcasing their school pride!}, I know there are other ways to use this craft too. How cute would several of these flags be hung in a sports-loving doll’s room!? :) And, as always, here at Doll Mag, we are all about quick and easy crafts; if you have the supplies on hand, this should take no more than half an hour. Let’s get started!

School-Spirit-Flag-MaterialsYOU WILL NEED…

  • Felt in your favorite color!
  • Construction paper in a coordinating color
  • Tape
  • Permanent marker
  • Scissors
  • A baking stick, usually found at craft stores for cake pops or lollipops
  • Craft glue
  • Ruler

School-Spirit-InstructionsTO MAKE

  1. Draw an elongated triangle on your felt with the permanent marker. Our “long sides” were about five and a half inches.
  2. Cut out the triangle, and adjust it a bit if needed.
  3. Print out the word you would like on your flag onto your construction paper. {Download the font we used here. If you don’t use this font, try to pick a block-like typeface – It will be easier to cut out!} Cut out the letters individually, and glue to the flag. Glue the stick to the flag on the back.
  4. Mark on the remaining construction paper how long the side of the pennant is.
  5. Cut out a long rectangle of construction paper, adding some embellishment if desired.
  6. You’re done!

You can be sure to find all of the Doll Mag girls cheering on their favorite team! If you make one of these, we would love to see. Be sure to send us an email at!

Have a wonderful Saturday! :)
